CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
Discovery Language Programs offer 12 to 22 week sessions in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Polish, and Mandarin Chinese to students in grades K – 8th. Class sizes range from 8-14 students that are grouped by age and level of foreign language knowledge. Students usually meet once a week, before or after school or at lunchtime. Twice weekly classes are also available. To determine the interest level at your school, an eight-week pilot program can be offered at any time during the school year.

What do students learn at Discovery Language Programs?
The following are some of the subjects covered during the first year:
- Numbers and Colors
- Days of the Week
- Months of the Year
- Family
- Descriptive Adjectives
- Pets and Farm Animals
- House
- Cultural aspects of Mexico, France, Germany, Italy or Poland, Food, Clothing, Marketplace, Shopping, School
- Parts of the Body
- Sports and Leisure Activities and Auxiliary Verbs (Older students only).

Advanced Levels 4 & 5 are designed for students who have completed three or four years of the Discovery Language Programs. Levels 4 & 5 offer much more reading and writing than the previous workbooks. This level is excellent preparation for further language learning either in Junior High School or in High School.
